MONTREAL (March 18, 2013) – The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation is proud to announce that its fourth annual Radio-Telethon presented on March 13 on RDS, 98,5 FM and TSN radio 690 has raised close to $100,000 so far thanks to the generosity of Canadiens fans.
Habs supporters can still help by placing their bids to win one of the Foundation’s patch Canadiens pre-game used and autographed jerseys, worn by the players during the warm-up of last Wednesday’s win against the Ottawa Senators. The online auction is accessible at auction.nhl.com until midnight March 25.
“As we saw during this fourth annual Radio-Telethon, Canadiens fans once again stepped up to the plate in support of our cause, showing their big-heartedness and allowing us to raise funds so we can continue our mission,” said Geoff Molson, President and CEO of the Montreal Canadiens.
The outstanding support from the team broadcasters contributes not only to the fundraising but also to bring to light the Montreal Canadiens family’s commitment to the community and the Foundation’s mission and initiatives across the province of Quebec. Furthermore, to ensure the success of this special fundraising event, the Foundation relies on partners such as Activis, Bell, Desjardins and La Presse, as well as the participation of an army of volunteers, including spouses of Canadiens players and Alumni along with an array of collaborators who graciously donated their time and expertise for the cause.
The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation is determined to provide a better and healthier future for children in need, and is committed to encourage and promote a healthy and active lifestyle among the youth. Since its inception in August 2000, the Foundation has donated more than $15 million to over 450 charitable groups working to support the well-being of children across Quebec. The Foundation’s initiatives include the BLEU BLANC BOUGE program and the implementation of its outdoor community, refrigerated and multisport outdoor rinks in underprivileged neighborhood.
